yes ... but if you hold the mortgage alone, then you're effectively tied to your job eh ....Originally posted by elindra:That depends on the salary of both persons really
If one is earning more then the other it's still kinda imbalanced ><
Yeah. Sometimes, sitting in my couch nua-ing away, staring at the ceiling, I start to have crazy thoughts creep into me like, why not just find a nice, responsible guy, marry him on the understanding that we'll share bills, share mortgage, do nice stuff for each other, occasionally bicker (cuz I find that stimulating! ), and provide emotional support for each other.Originally posted by Fatum:well ... wrt to the affluenza thread ... methinks getting married makes financial sense too ....
you spread the risk some ... that makes mortgages and loans a bit more manageable ... and either spouse can flip the birdie at the boss and walk out a lot more easily than a single person can ....
ha!Originally posted by Fatum:yes ... but if you hold the mortgage alone, then you're effectively tied to your job eh ....
if you want to start a biz or relocate or whatever the house will have to go ....
that's why I'm looking at something that'll generate cash flow instead ... so how's the jollibean thingy coming along pinky ? ...
I checked out their webby ... their soy beans are from pluto ! ...
Yeah... having a mortgage is really quite scary. It's like, even if you hate your job, even if they are treating you really badly, you still have to stay unless you've got another job waiting along the sidelines for you.Originally posted by Fatum:yes ... but if you hold the mortgage alone, then you're effectively tied to your job eh ....

yes ... the typical asian marriage from a generation ago lor .....Originally posted by Rhonda:Hmm... do you think marriages actually exist where the crux of the union is to share / split mortgage and other costs of living?

Except, I don't want kids. I just want my man, and pets.Originally posted by Fatum:yes ... the typical asian marriage from a generation ago lor .....
not much physical intimacy ... plenty of oriental reserve .... everything is centered around the kids ...
so after the kids are grown ... the couple's like strangers ...
I dun want kids too but Chris wantsOriginally posted by Rhonda:Except, I don't want kids. I just want my man, and pets.
Should have discussed this before marriage! It's going to be tough handling such sensitive issues after marriage, because it's based on each other's 'ideal' lifestyle and desires since young.Originally posted by elindra:I dun want kids too but Chris wants
How?
Actually we discussed before and couldn't reach an agreement and it always hit a deadendOriginally posted by Rhonda:Should have discussed this before marriage! it's all up to the parents I guess .... and parenting is a couple's job .. it's way too much for a single parent ... as my landlord has shown ....
I dun think so lorOriginally posted by Fatum:well actually hor ... one of the reasons why I'd want to have kids is because of the emotional security in old age ...
my extended family has a few singles ... and as retirement approaches ... as friends and families are pre-occupied with offsprings and daily life ... it can get awfully lonesome ....
having children provides a sort of emotional blanket in old age I suppose ...
