Moisturisers - do they really make a difference?

I just found a tube (not a container but really a tube) of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly.
Am testing it out against the JOhnson Baby Oil.
Left feet is slathered with Vaseline Petroleum Jelly and wearing a sock.
Right feet is slathered with Johnson Baby Oil and also in a sock.
Left feet felt so much softer & comfy with Vaseline the moment it was applied on.
Right feet still has the skin feels like paper.
Lets see how tomorrow. Time now is 8.35pm in OC California.
Why dont we have Vaseline in a tube in SG? Its so much easier to carry around!
I gave up on lotions & creams for skins. They works best after they are further protected with another slathering of baby oil to really keep the moisture in.
Am using one of those flavoured Blistex Fruit Smoothies Lip Balm. They taste sweet. And only when I am eating something or licked my lips, and I know I ate my lipbalm. Saliva drys out lips.....so its kinda interesting to know that I dont have the habit to llick my lips. -

Vaseline Petroleum Jelly wins!!!!
Left feet is softer, comfy and feels better.
Right feet still feels papery & dry.
But somehow....petroleum jelly just feels sticky in Singapore's weather....sigh.
Skins around the body are now dry, sensitive & itchy. It wasnt so bad the last time I was here!
And Vaseline Petroleum Jelly works fine to protect the face after face moisturisers were put in after the shower.
Baby Oil works better over moisturisers when outdoors though.
So routine nowadays is....
1) shower
2) Put lotions & cream moisturisers on body and face
3) Layer again with Vaseline Petroleum Jelly
4) Covered up with clothes, including socks.
5) Lip balm
*layer baby oil and sunscreen when going outdoors
Now my question: We know that baby oil breaks down condoms.....Does baby oil works or fight with petroleum jelly? -

my personal fav is still body butter from bodyshop. they smell v v v v v good. (ya i'm a sucker for body shop cos i got discout card) -

But sg side dont have the tube versions. They only have them in containers. And I dont like containers cos you need to dig our fingers inside to scope them out.
If you fingers are not clean...then you might contaminate the whole container... -
Now I dont know they are enzemyes or just plain dry sensitive inflamed skin.
The top part of my hands, at the bases of the thumbs are all ininflamed, reddish & felt papery. They are not flaking off right now, but I think they will do so soon.
My legs are worse hit.
Inner thighs inflamed, with bruises and lots of scratch lines.
Argggghhhhh..... -

Sis just went out to the pharmacy to get the vitamin drop for the little gal.
She did asked me what I would need. I told her no need. But asked her to get me a johnson johnson Clean & clear Sunburst orange face scrub. My face feels like dead skin cells are congealing to drop off into a mask. -
VK, I hope you haven't used the scrub yet. It's going to hurt you even more if you do. You could do an online search for facial moisturisers. And it does need a scrub. The mask I brought along to USA is still not used, cos my combination to oily face arent that oily as yet. Must be the weather.
I regret not buying dozens of those Ginvera Exfloliating Gels to USA. Watsons was having a sale & I should have stock them up for my sis and myself here in USA.
Its expensive here! -

Need to get a new mask though usually I'm lazy -
in cold countries, i'll use creamier moisturizers. the skin tends to have less oil and skin is drier.
try using a mask that add moisture instead. it hurts when the skin cracks

The climate does make life for people with oily skin a little better. Make up doesn't slide off or disappear after a couple hours like it does in Singapore. Have you visited Target yet for moisturizers? Hope everything works out for you. -

I just recently acquired a small bottle of the Vaseline Firming Moisturiser (Actually, I wanted the night renewal but grabbed the wrong bottle off the shelf; was carrying my neice at the same time and rushing for the casier.)
Making do with it at the moment. Shower, put on lotion. Apply another layer of vaseline petroleum jelly to seal in the lotions. So far, its working well enough since last night.
Hands, got no choice cos I need them for cooking and washing up but at least the inflamation isnt that bad now. You can still see the dry patches at at the back of the hands at the thumb areas and it still itch. I doubt the skins will recover in a jiffy. So that will do for the moment. -
Do you shower in very warm or hot water? Likewise wash your hands in very warm or hot water too? Doing this will for sure dry your skin. No matter how tempting, don't take a too-hot shower. Opt for a warm one instead. When towelling dry, dab, don't rub. Then apply body lotion to slightly damp skin for better absorption. I use Aveeno. No greasy feeling after application. I still have the same problems with dry hands. Only because I have to cook and do chores. Again, Vaseline Deep Moisture Creamy formula works like a charm. It's actually a jelly form of petroleum jelly and really heals cracked skin on fingers and heels. Just apply before you go to bed every night. Problem will be solved in a couple of days. HTHs. -

with that left finger cut.
i had to wear a left hand rubber glove to clear up the dishes.
And the moisturisers with the extra layer of petroleum jelly did help.
My inner thighs are less reddish now.
And yah about the hot water shower. I noticed they tend to sort of push the bloods thru the veins more and make the skins itch. -
