my friend who's peranakan watched a bit and got v irritated. she says some of the so-called nonyas phrases used are wrong. for example, the phrase "yan dao" used in the show. but babas and nonyas dun use tt phrase. they have another phrase called "lawa".
i also saw part of the episode tonight. lin meijiao looks quite stiff and unnatural as the first wife.
i tink the channel 5 actors and actresses do a better job acting peranakan... maybe cos they are more ang moh pai, as babas and nonyas usually are. channel 8 stars too cheena already... with the exception of pierre png, none of them are very convincing.

Can't stand Jeanette Aw. I don't anti her or dislike her. But she can't act!
In the show, she tried to move gracefully and slowly while doing housechores to act demure. For a person who does housechores and cooks well, where got move like that one? Machiam like performing ballet like Swam Lake.

Jeanette Aw - The purpose of the show is to move her to upper level of the ladder.
The seven princess struggles to make an impression with the singapore audience as they are marketed as pretty vase and empty inside.
It will take a very huge effort for these ladies to overtake Fann Wong as they lack the star appeal and worse of all, most of them cannot hold the show by themselves.
They have coupled the show with very strong cast of experienced actors and actresses to strengthen the weak story plot. (Same as price of peace as some one will get raped)
The problem with Aw is that she have been acting herself since day one.
No matter how she changed her role, the audience will still get the same version of her.
If she is unable to break out of this mould of her and let go of her inner pride, she will always give the audience the same old fierce face every time.

Personally.. I find Jeanette Aw still ok.... but as you guys say... she acts pretty weird in this show...But now that she's the lead... I guess she will not go home empty-handed in next year's Star Awards....
