Yes! Evidently! That's why they are so upset about not being able to work here. If our new policy stops their children from schooling, by all means, they can protest. But we are just stopping them from working. In the first place, our job market doesn't need them and they don't even have the basic skills to contribute to the local workforce (namely speaking proper english).Originally posted by the Bear:i have to admit, i can't read chinese very well
but sometimes, you do think that a lot of PDMMs come here with a child, on the pretext of accompanying the child...
Maybe that dumbass has already left the government after the recent election...Originally posted by the Bear:i still wonder what the hell were the idiots who made the policy were thinking of when they came up with this dumbass idea
If she's really concerned about her child's wellbeing, she should have thought of it way back in PRC... Just a lame excuse to cover her real intentions of running away from PRC...Originally posted by Honeybunz:If you notice in tonight's discussion, those who say the Study Mums SHOULD NOT be allowed to work, they focused their concern on the children's wellbeings, while over in the other party, one of the mothers focused a lot of whether they can work here to make money and sustain the expenditure here. And the Sg mother pointed out that the PDMM sounded like she was concerned about herself rather than the child. Having said that... the other PDMM (the one seated on the right) was a more sensible and reasonable one. I would say if more than 50% of the PDMM is like her, we won't have so many social problems today brought by the PDMM.
The more defensive and agressive PDMM (the one who kept harping on having come to Sg mainly because our policy allowed her to work) ....
For the whole night, she spoke the most but I am in no way convinced that she cares about her child's future anywhere more than her own living.

the incident of Huang Na comes to mind
Huang Shuying has owed quite a huge sum of money back in PRC, and she falsely entered Singapore under a new name after being deported back... Her intention was not for the daughter but to escape from the realities... The news tabloid even published that she used the money that kind souls donated to pay off her debts when she went back... It really shows her real and true intention to come to Singapore...Originally posted by the Bear:yeah.. sometimes i wonder...

She should have been jailed for wilful neglect and abandonment.Originally posted by dork3d:Huang Shuying has owed quite a huge sum of money back in PRC, and she falsely entered Singapore under a new name after being deported back... Meaning they will have to afford their Security Bonds so that Our ICA doesn't have to pay for their Deportation !!!Originally posted by LazerLordz:Just deport them if they have no funds to sustain for at least a year.
I'm sick of their riff-raff.
Me still believe that Huang Shuying might be the mastermind of the whole drama, which she might have planned meticulously... Her emotionless and expressionless behaviour at the morgue, the court hearing and the funeral wake are all tell-tales signs of her guilt...Originally posted by LazerLordz:She should have been jailed for wilful neglect and abandonment.
I'm still adamant that she played an indirect role in her daughter's death.Took is not wholly to blame.
hmm... ya hor. But but but she really cried very badly lah. So should be real.Originally posted by the Bear:makes me wonder if huang na was really that woman's real daughter
Well, just as a few days ago,it was reported that some of the study mums actually 'borrowed' other people's children to come to Singapore as a pretext... However, it was found that their main motive was to earn as much as possible as they deemed possible in their so-called 'Land of Opportunity'...Originally posted by Honeybunz:hmm... ya hor. But I doubt her reason for coming here. She claimed that Huang Na was the one who wanted to come here, study & learn English. All these she claimed one. Nobody heard it from Huang Na.
So could be she made use of her own daughter to come here. Little did she expect that the price that she has to pay was so high (loss of her daughter).
If you watched last Mon's Crossfire, you would have seen that the Sg mom commented that if the PRC mom has no money, she should not have sent the child here. Immediately the PRC mom was so defensive and AGGRESSIVE! Which part of the Sg Mom's comment was wrong?? None. In fact, the Sg Mom was absolutely right.Originally posted by dork3d:Well, just as a few days ago,it was reported that some of the study mums actually 'borrowed' other people's children to come to Singapore as a pretext... Maybe we should bring forth the very fact that their livelihood and expenditure are not the liabilities and pesponsibilities of Singapore Government, and the hard fact is if they can't cope, off they should go...
harnor... why employ someone who can only speak 1 language and doesn't know what a teh tarik is.Originally posted by Sagara:Whoever came up with this retarded policy of PDMMs should just step down.
Instead of nurturing our local talents / students, they chose to give our money away to PRCs for no apparent reason. Now, these PRCs, along with PDMMs, are demanding we provide jobs. I would rather hire the local auntie who at leasts understand my order of "Bandung" than a PDMM who keeps trying to pronounce "Bandung" to "Milo" so that i would order 'Milo' instead.
The reason PDMMs get the job ? They undercut our poor local aunties.
Say, would you be tempted to study in Canadia/Australia for FREE ? You can even bring your mum there and be sure she has a job !
One question i would like to ask the authorities is how much money do we spend subsidising them, up to what level of education is subsidised and also the entry requirements.
I, for one, do not wish for PRCs, nor citizens of any other nation, to reap the benefits of what we and our fore fathers achieved. If anybody is more deserving, it should be us, the locals who worked hard and most definately not the PDMMs !
