Crazy Horse cabaret won't be toned down for Singapore
SINGAPORE : The world-famous Crazy Horse cabaret show will not be toned down for the Singapore audience, said the show's choreographers.
The team was in Singapore on Wednesday to prepare for the opening of the show in December.
Come December, you can watch the girls dancing topless in g-strings, wigs and stilettos on stage at Clarke Quay.
Singapore will be the third place in the world to host the Crazy Horse show.
Said Sofia Balma, cheoreographer at Crazy Horse Paris, "It's the same show as Paris and Las Vegas; we're not going to change the show. It's not really about nudity. We put the lights on the girls and they are costumed with lights."
Crazy Horse Paris dancer Rita Casablanca said, "The people I have met are very open. This is my impression about Singapore: open heart and open mind. It's a beautiful show about the sensual side of women and I think maybe sometimes, the public doesn't understand how good is all this. Normally there has to be restriction between us and anybody; there has to be a space between us and the public."
Eng Wah, the company bringing the show here, has spent S$5 million on the venue, and refused to reveal the amount paid for the franchise.
But they are certain of profits.
Said Goh Min Yen, managing director of Eng Wah Organisation, "Our seating capacity is 450. We are running 13 shows a week and there are 52 weeks. Roughly we're looking at 100 percent so that will be about S$30.4 million."
Lim Neo Chian, chief executive of the Singapore Tourism Board, "Crazy Horse will be the beginning of more things to come and I can tell you we are certainly working on more entertainment options."
The Singapore Crazy Horse theatre, which Eng Wah won't to show us, is supposed to be the largest Crazy Horse performance venue in the world.
It will also be the world's first integrated Crazy Horse entertainment complex, with a bar, cafe, lounge, restaurant and boutique selling Crazy Horse merchandise like lingerie and perfume. - CNA /ct
