Channel U announces its bold search for Singapore’s very own “Mandopop" Superstar! Are you the one?
As a highlight to our new identity, Channel U dares all to unleash their Singing Talents this March.
Ever committed to providing the lifeline to Singapore’s local Mandarin Pop culture, Project Superstar is Channel U’s latest and ultimate talent search programme. The search for Singapore’s very own “Mandopop (Mandarin Pop)” Superstar begins with Channel U.
From March, Channel U will roll out mobilization TV trailers, print advertisements as well as through other forms of publicity to invite Superstar-wannabes to join Project Superstar.
The Selection Process
The successful Project Superstar winner will have to go through 4 rounds victoriously
Round 1
– 16 males & 16 females contestants will be selected from the auditions
– The Male & Female contestants will be randomly paired up, forming 16 teams
Round 2
– 16 teams will compete through the quarter finals, where each team will perform a duet and be evaluated as a duet for their chance at being one of the teams in the semi finals
Round 3
– During the semi finals, all previous “alliances” will be broken up, and contestants will have to outshine each other as there will be no more duets and they will be evaluated on the basis of their individual performance, for their chance at being one of final 2 contestants. 1 male & 1 female will emerge from this battle and continue their war path to Superstardom in the Grand Finals
Round 4
– It’s the battle of the sexes in this final showdown. Viewers will solely decide the fate of our two Superstar hopefuls.

Project Superstar premieres June 15, 2005 and airs every Wednesday & Thursday at 9.15pm. Channel U will begin its ultimate search for Superstar with online registration commencing on March 25, 2005.
Prospective contestants for Project Superstar must be between 15 to 35 years of age, regardless of race, and can find additional instructions and complete details by logging onto www.channelu.com.sg, starting from March 25, 2005.
