Ronald Koeman has admitted PSV Eindhoven have 'no opportunity' to advance to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League following the 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday.
Goals from Steven Gerrard, John Arne Riise and Peter Crouch sealed a comprehensive victory for The Reds and left PSV in need of something special in the second leg next Wednesday.
But Koeman, whose side knocked out Arsenal in the last round, believes all hope is gone.
"If I told my squad to believe they can still advance, then I don't belong on this planet," he said.
"This result hurts and gives us no opportunity to do anything next week in Liverpool."
There was little to choose between the sides until Gerrard's opener after 27 minutes, but Koeman accepts that PSV were completely outplayed for the last hour of the contest.
He explained: "Till the first goal we did well, we were organised and gave nothing away, but then we failed to close the space for Steve Finnan to cross for Gerrard to score.
"From then on it was clear that Liverpool were too strong for us. It is not realistic to think that we can win the tie now.
"We played with the same tactics against Arsenal to beat them in the last round.
"But we have injuries now, we are missing a few important players, and you could see that we did not have the quality to match Liverpool. -
Rafa Benitez has insisted complacency will not be allowed to creep in ahead of Liverpool's meeting with PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.
The Reds have one foot in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, having claimed a 3-0 win in Holland last week.
PSV are in a terrible run of form, but Benitez will not take the Dutch champions for granted.
"We know there have been comebacks from 3-0 down in the Champions League - we did it in Istanbul," said Benitez.
"These kind of games are difficult. Sometimes teams say 'okay, the job is done'. But we have to be careful.
"We know if they score an early goal they will push forward and we could have problems.
"We must approach the game the same as we did against Barcelona (when Liverpool led heading into the second leg) and try to win.
"We do not go into the game thinking a draw will be enough. We need to go for a win." -

Uncle me thought of giving this match a miss , cos i think it will be boring , stalement .....one side surrendering , one side just trying to save resources for EPL remaining matches .

I believe Liverpool will get the job done. I'm going for Liverpool 2 v PSV 1!

In my opinion, it's still a mouth-watering clash in every way. -
the man u match taught us a lesson that even if we are 3-0 up we cannot afford to relax. opponents might just win 7-1
