New Liverpool signing Alvaro Arbeloa has told manager Rafa Benitez that he's the man to stop Barcelona star Ronaldinho next week.
"I was happy with most of my performances for Depor this season but that one against Barcelona stands out because I was up against Ronaldinho directly, and he is one of the best players in the world," the Spaniard told LFC Magazine.
"We drew 1-1 and I did well but I was helped by the rest of my teammates. They helped me double up on him when I needed assistance and we fought well all over the pitch so they didn't get a lot of time on the ball.
"You are nothing in football as an individual; you need the team to get good results."
Arbeloa believes Barca have weaknesses that Liverpool are more than capable of exploiting.
"It is true that they are not playing at their best this season and they have been dropping points to teams that people expect them to beat. We should be confident going into those games because we are not inferior to them.
"There will be areas we can exploit over there and the fact that the home leg is second also gives us a small advantage.
"It means that Barca will have to take the game to Liverpool and from what I have seen of this team they like to play the game this way."
i don't think any defender can stop the world player of the year single handedly -

Liverpool's Riise excited by Barcelona showdown

Liverpool wing-back John Arne Riise has welcomed their Champions League draw with defending title holders Barcelona.
"I was pleased when they came out of the hat. It will be a great game to be involved in and a great game to watch. It's the last two winners of the Champions League meeting each other," said Riise.
"Obviously they won it last year and they're probably the best team in the world, so it's going to be very difficult. But this is why we all play football, to play in these games and against these players.
"I feel, and I think the whole team feels, that we've got a chance. We know it's hard, but so do they. They know how good we are at home in the same way they are hard to play against at home. We've just got to give the best we've got.
"We've got to keep playing how we have been and if we do that, anything can happen. All of us are excited by the fact we're playing Barcelona." -
Benitez convinced Liverpool have Barcelona panicking

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez believes they have Barcelona in panic-mode ahead of their Champions League clash.
Benitez feel that Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi are crucial to the Catalans in their last-16 tie with Liverpool, and Barcelona are desperate for them to be in the side.
And that desire for the pair to play in the Nou Camp next week could well have induced the row raging between Eto'o and manager Frank Rijkaard.
Eto'o has been accused by the Dutch coach of refusing to come on as a substitute last weekend against Racing Santander, and that incident has also caused Ronaldinho to question Eto'o's team loyalty.
Now Benitez has said: "Yes, I think they have been trying to push these players back quickly for this game."
Benitez feels that in the two months since the draw, Barcelona have had their problems while Liverpool have improved.
He said in a liverpoolfc.tv interview: "Everyone is very excited about this game. They have been talking about it almost every day for the last two months.
"Their team is really good and when the draw was made people were saying Barcelona are the best team in the world.
"After two months we are a lot better and they have had some problems. They need Eto'o fit, and Messi, because they haven't been scoring a lot of goals.
"Yes they are really strong, they are not playing at the same level but if they have Eto'o, Messi and Ronaldinho then I think they have very good players."
Benitez reveals an understandable knowledge of the Barcelona club and players from his days when he frequently masterminded good results for Valencia against the Catalans.
He said: "They have some foreign players and I know Messi. I also know Eto'o as he was in the academy at Real Madrid when I was there, so I have good relations with them.
"It could be good for us to be underdogs. I think that it is important for us as we will not have big pressure there."
He added: "It will be hard there, but it will be good for us to score. Always for us to play the second leg at Anfield is important and we need to score in Barcelona if it's possible.
"Liverpool have never lost at the Nou Camp and they have played three times. I would like to keep this record.
"It's a difficult stadium to play in but we have confidence. We know it will be a hard game because Barcelona is a difficult team. We know about them, but we will try our best and I have confidence we can do a good job.
"I have watched some of their games on TV but until now I have been focused on our form in the Premiership. I said to my players that we don't think about Barcelona, we focus on the Premiership. But now we can look ahead to Barcelona." -
i think pool should be able to get a point at nou camp, then beat barca to advance to second round aet.

Valencia were leading 2-0 ... until a late consolation from Small R .
Plenty of loopholes for Liverpool to explore from this defeat ..... Barcelona going to be an easy piece of meat if they play Liverpool like against Valencia .
Tell u what ..... if we play our game to our pace , deny them the chance to manipulate the pace of the game , we should be able to nick in a surprise win .
They lost to Valencia , with a Full squad .....
We have a chance to win , if we are serious about winning at Nou Camp , unless Benitez planning to go into the match , defending . -
liverpool does indeed plays like valencia, except for the long ball part. barcelona likes time and space on the ball, if liverpool can deny them that, then yes liverpool has a good chance.
