I can imagine that if the Bible lumps bats and cows as mammals you would quibble over saying that the Bible failed to make distinction between flying mammals and non-flying mammals. Point is, Bible critics like you will always find something to make an issue out of it. Why? Bible bashing mode mah!
Why would god want to use such terms and then lead scribes to use the wrong word "bird" and then lead us to accuse him of not being allknowing?
Why go through so much trouble? :(
Why not just put "mammals" in there?
You havent answered my question. You merely shifted attention.
Why doesnt he want to do it in a more efficient waY? And this also applied to the numerical errors in the bible.

Tcmc, you are really a fraud.
Sure let me show you how you guys interpret and choose the verses ok?
Jesus commandments of "Go now into the world to preach", christians take it literally.
EH!
BUT THEN in matthew 5, jesus also commanded christians to chop off hands and gouge out eyes after sinning, EH! THIS SUDDENLY becomes metaphorical!!!
Miracle kind of interpretation?
Of course ya you will have the usual excuse of "in-context" interpretation.
Then if you wanna read in context, that "great commission" verse was also only menat for the disciples 2000 years ago and not applicable today!
Seriously, you guys come up with many books and method of interpretation, but essentially, you all are just PICKING and CHOOSING which verses you like to interpret literally and which metaphorically.

You are not listening at all. Please show that it is wrong to call a bat a winged creature first. In what way is this inefficient? And efficiency is not even the issue at all! I am telling you that you are making an issue for the sake of making an issue. I answered your question and you shift goalpost to why not use mammal. Please lah, the Bible must be understood in its own context in its own time.

Yes I agree the hebrew version of "winged creature" is ok. But then if God is allknowing, he would have known that scribes later on would translate it wrongly to BIRD, and then he would also have known that many people would then pick out this error in the bible and cite it as a difficulty.
So if God knew all this would happen, and if he was an efficient allknowing CEO, he should have just simply used the word mammal or ANY word that would not have caused difficulty!
And now that I have explained, can you please tell me why he must go through all these trouble and then engage people like you to come and explain forhim on his behalf, when he is allknowing and knew that all this shit will happen?

Seriously, until you pick up a book on Biblical exegesis and actually read it, I don't really feel like entertaining you on this. I can bet you never even heard of the word hyperbole!

I have NO difficulty accepting the fact that in the Hebrew language they used "winged creature" to describe a bat or a bird. Neither do you, honestly, except for trying to engage in Bible bash as in "LOL! Bible called the bat a bird!" when the truth is that the Bible called both bird and bats winged creatures.

Hhahahaha
Yes you are not the first christian I debate with so I heard of "hyberbole" before.
Please.
Then why cant the great commission be a hyberbole too? "Go into the world" could be a hyberbole? Well at that point of time, the disciples wouldnt know about japan, china or india. So it would make most sense to read it in context that jesus was only saying it as a hyberbole!
Why? pick and choose?
Even despondent admiited to me that christians obey the "easy verses" only. And he is a christian.

LOL! The fact that you can ask the question as to whether the GC is a hyperbole shows you have NO IDEA what it is.

Since you agree that winged creature is OK, end of argument. The rest of your points are just petty points trying to score points. Honestly it is no trouble for me to explain the Hebrew word. For most people this answer would have been entirely satisfactory. But for Bible-bashers NOTHING would satisfy them.

Hhahaa. END of argument because -
1. You cannot explain why an allknowing entity would inspired such a word, knowing that in future i will be here criticisng it and you here trying desperately to speak on behalf for him.
2. You cannot explain why an allknowing, creative entity would not use a more efficient word.

End of argument because I am just feeding a Tcmc-Troll here. I answered your question already but then you invoke another issue. You just don't know where to stop. Sincere? I'd rather play the tune to the cow!

Please refrain from name calling and answer my question philosophically.
1. explain why an allknowing entity would inspired such a word, knowing that in future i will be here criticisng it and you here trying desperately to speak on behalf for him.
2. explain why an allknowing, creative entity would not use a more efficient word, like mammal, instead of winged creature and ultimately "BIRD".
BIC,
Also please explain to me how both commandments are from jesus but you treat one as a hyberbole and the other literal.
Matt 5 -Jesus commands believers to punish themselves by chopping hands off and gouging eyes after sin
Matt 28 - Jesus commands believers to go preach the religion to the world
On a side note, despondent (hes a christian) has previously agreed that christians only take "easy verses" as literal to obey. Do you agree with him?

Tcmc,
Please refrain from trolling on such things. You are clearly shifting goalpost because you have a vested interest to defend the idea that the Bible is wrong to called the bat a bird. But as mentioned, the Hebrew word translated ‘bird’ is ‘ôwph, and simply means ‘winged/flying creature’—it is derived from ‘ûwph meaning ‘to fly’. So you think that Hebrew word should be translated as mammal? LOL!

That's because I have learned to discern by reading up, looking at contexts, etc etc, the very essential things that you FAILED to do.

Explain to me how then you choose to read matt 5 in context, but matt 28 to be applicable through time?
Explain to me why when both commandments are direct instructions from jesus, that you choose one to be a hyberbole and the other not?
And do you agree with despondent who said that generally christians obey the "easy commandments" only?

Better still, why don't you take the next one hour and read up a couple of online commentaries and then we talk? Like I said, I am not your answering machine and neither do I owe you answers on demand.

No need lah.
Simply put , like what depondent said (hes christian)
Easy verses - literal
Difficult verses - metaphorical
Thats the essence.
yea there are LOTS of "explanations" but in essence thats it!

You are now guilty of misrepresenting what despondent said. I leave him to put you in your correct place.

Anyway
Matt 5 is not the only verse.
There are verses like the one where Jesus commands anyone who wants to follow him to sell everything. Then that verse why you all say must read in context and he only talking to the man?
Then why matt 28 cannot be read in context and he only talking to the discipleS?

Tcmc,
I wonder why you exhibit this bizarre pathology where you would want to allow yourself to be in a self-pwned situation. Which passage has Jesus commanding that ANYONE who wants to follow Him to sell everything? You really need a course on how to interpret the Bible in context, but then again, you have no interest or desire to do so.

BIC,
Ah..see, like what I said, suddenly this "selling everything" verse becomes meatphorical and has to be read in context!
Then why not verses that talk about Jesus telling his disciples to love and to preach the gospel or to do miracles? Those HAVE TO BE READ IN CONTEXT TOO! Jesus was only talking to them and NOT applicable today too!
Why do you choose which to be literal or not?
Or rather HOW do you do it? You can explain briefly here. I might accept.
tcmc i think no need to talk to BIC... he can bla bla bla bla bla... but won't give you the answers deh...
