So what did God or the bible said about aliens? Are there such beings at all ?
Originally posted by Tcmc:Excuse me, I know both are different but still you answers would most probably be "Oh they are accurate for christian relics only and not so accurate for age of the earth or fossils."
Your answer will be the same, no matter radiometric, cabron or uranium lead dating etc.
BIC, i didnt say dinosaurs can sin. I was referring to Jacky's question to you, that you didnt answer
Tcmc,
Tell me, is carbon dating being used to date the age of the earth? As an evolutionist you should know and be able to tell me whether evolutionists employ carbon dating to date the earth.
And if you know the answer to Jacky's question, why can't you answer him or correct him? Chances are, you don't know the answer to that at all.

Aliens as in little green men from Mars or other galaxies far far away? Well, the Bible is silent on them. The place of action is earth. But that does not mean that aliens aka little green men therefore exist because the Bible is silent. The belief in aliens is completely based on belief that evolution is true, that billions of years exist, and that life has evolved elsewhere. But if the Bible is correct that the universe is only about 6000 years old, then there is no room or place for aliens.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Not JUST based on evolution. It's based also on biochemistry, probability and astronomy.
There are billions of stars in our galaxy. And each star has planets revolving around it. And there are BILLIONS of galaxies in our universe. Which means there are billions upon billions upon billions of planets in our universe.
To say that there are no other life out there is ........ just assuming too much.
I have this weird feeling that we are not alone in the entire universe....with billions of stars / planets/galaxies out there, the chances are pretty high that elsewhere will have some kind of intelligent life-form...otherwise, it'll be an awful waste of space....Hahaha!

I'm mixed about this....buddhism did mentioned life on other planets in far away galaxies...but there is no proof for that becos modern science could not reach that far yet...for now we just have to "trust what buddha said" .... as for the christian perspective, I think Jesus has "his own Heaven/New earth" that He prepared for his believers....similarly, there's no proof from science, so we may just have to accept what "Jesus said"...

BIC,
No scientist or anyone will say that there is definitely life out there. I didnt say that too. We can only say there is a high chance that there is life out there because of the numbe rof planets out there. It's called probability. You learn it in pri sch and sec sch maths? But no one can be 100% sure ,just like you can nv be sure there is no life out there. ?
Moreover you were the one who told me that doesnt mean we never go there, means the thing is not real..right? LOL Or you gonna special plead for your eternal places again?
You really select what to reply huh. How about my other posts in other topics?

You are making a joke out of yourself.
Existence of extraterrestrial life is based on biochemistry, evolution, probabilty and astronomy.
Again, as usual, very bad habit of not reading. Your pri school teacher never train you isit?
Like I said, even with those studies, no one is absolutely sure too.
But it is a high chance. Thats all.
Buddha said there are many buddhas out there, each have their own Heavens/Buddha-lands....their followers and believers shall dwell in those places after they died...so, I think Jesus also has his own Heaven for his believers....what u guys think?

ya I think it's wiser to believe that buddhists go buddhist heaven, christian go christian heaven and taoist go taoist heaven etc.
What about atheists and agnostics or pantheists? Split our spirits ah?

So what do you believe will happen after you (an atheist) die ?

What about you? What you think atheists or pantheists or agnostics will go after death?
For me when we die, we wont feel a thing because when the brain dies there is no consciousness.
We die, if we get buried, we rot and become food for plants. Its a cycle. If we get burnt, then our ashes stay in the urn.
Remember when you were in your mothers womb when your brain was not fully developed? There wasnt consciousness and that was why we wouldnt remember anything or recall anything when we were still in the womb

Irregardless of what we believe, there is the workings of Karma....it'll decide your next existence after one dies....reborn into higher/lower realms of existence...the consciousness/spirit lives on....
So atheists or pantheists or agnostics will also be bounded by the laws of Karma...

So you believein reincarnation? Karma is the deciding factor for how you wouldbe reincarnated?
Originally posted by Tcmc:So you believein reincarnation? Karma is the deciding factor for how you wouldbe reincarnated?
The concept of Karma is very complicated....the best is you ask those experts over at the buddhism forum...
Yes, I do believe in reincarnation....the consciousness lived on (after we die) and transform into or enter another "new body"...can be animal, insect, or human... some of these transformations may be "not immediate" depending on the Karma factors....I think the scientific explanation to this is the "transfer of energies"....
Therefore, Jesus may possibly return as a reincarnated being....only he himself know which body (he will use) or which time he will come....
As for the Buddhists, we must attain buddhahood in order to break free from the cycles of birth and death (again)....

Demon Bane,
Precisely, that's the way life is. How do we know anything?
1. Personal Experience
2. Authority (parents, teachers, professors, scientists, sacred books etc)
When it comes to intelligent life out there, short of you going to outer space by yourself, we simply have to depend on what others say, those we consider as authorities. Humanly speaking, no one has seen intelligent life aka little green men out there. If Buddha is your choice of authority, then you just have to trust what he says.

Yeap! I'm happy being a buddhist.....that's most important, is it not ?

Tcmc,
It doesn't follow that just because the universe is large, and there are believed to be planets out there, therefore the chances are that intelligent life is out there. Remember such belief is entirely predicated on evolution being true.
Of course if you ask me in my personal capacity how I can be sure I would say that I can never be sure there is no intelligent life out there. But since the Bible is my authority, on the basis of what the Bible teach I am of the view that there is no aliens out there. Can you prove me wrong? You can't. Neither can I prove my view. But let's take stock of things at present. We have had the SETI program scanning the universe for signs of intelligence out there for many years. The result is zip, zero, nada. I think so far this is consistent with the Bible. Not only that, distances are so vast that the nearest galaxy is many light years away. Scientists have calculated the near-impossible amount of energy required to travel vast distances in a reasonable period of time.
And before I forget, why are evolutionists so adamant on intelligent life out there? Simply because of the notion that intelligent life on earth was seeded by such beings out there, which to me is an implicit admission that life on earth was intelligently designed but that they would rather that it be little green men than the God of the Bible. The idea that life on earth could have happened by chance is simply preposterous so they have to invoke aliens.
