To jacky,
I noe other religions have their commandments but do they have a commandment telling the followers to reach out? So if they can choose to follow their religion commandments, why chin Christians follow ours?

Oh so you guys only obey the "easy to obey" verses. I see. Just as i guessed.

Don't think there is any other faith that is similar.

Christianity wouldn't agree on tat cos it's nt stated in the bible. I do nt deny though tat Buddha may have really existed as a human being. The issue to christians is nt whether Buddha, Guan yin etc existed. Its abt who is God the creator. Which is why I told tcmc b4 tat we can only compare creationistic wif creationistic, non creationistic wif non creationistic.

Are you sure?
Christian rock music and the word "bible" also not in the bible. Yet why you guys do it?

no, it doesn't sound familiar, if you mean to Christianity. In Christianity, no amount of chanting or any religious activities can help man enter the kingdom of God. Many people pray in the name of Jesus, but instead of repentance, and acceptance of Jesus as personal savior, they ask for healing, ask for prosperity........sound familiar? I believe this happens in many religion.

This aspect is similar....praying in the name of "their chosen buddha/bodhisattva"...and enter into their exclusive "Heaven"........of coz its not guaranteed...they must be good people that follows the teachings of their "chosen buddha/bodhisattva"...also...
Nope u misquoted me. We din obey it juz cos it's easiest. It's tat if as a believer u cun even carry out the easier commandments, how do u progress further in the faith? It's nt abt whether u succeed in converting the person, it's about whether u even make the effort. Can u imagine a proclaimed Buddhist who dun even noe the noble truths teachings n make no attempt to try n practise it?

you choose where you want to go, what is happiness to you, then you find out who is in control and follow His instruction to go where He reigns. In many cases, man define happiness for himself and he takes his own path to happiness. To each his own.
To tcmc,
I choose to ignore ur last qn cos I see no pt replying. To me u juz wan ppl to admit they were wrong to say certain things n take back their words.

xtians believed other religions are false and satanic. so buddha or bodhisatvva to them, is satanic. you can ask them if they agreed with this
To sgdiehard,
Then based on wad said, there will be 6billion "heavens" n still counting based on the world's population currently.

Yes...u are right !
I for one will nt say Buddha is satanic. In fact I believe he may have existed on earth.

ah...this is where the different is, Jesus didn't ask for good people, but ask people to repent and turn away from their sinful way. Praying in the name of Jesus means a lot in what we believe.

despondent,
It's not up to you to decide if a religion/God is satanic.
Never your turn to decide.
Who are you to judge?
Keep the hate to yourself. All Gods are the same and as beautiful, including Jesus.

1. Do you choose which one to be a "commandment" and which one to not be a commandment?
2. Care to share which are commandments and which are not? How to differentiate?
3. Every christian see different verses to be commandements also, right?
I think you need to course on English for the above. And also a course on how to read and interpret what you read.

Every religions have their own propaganda....seems like the easiest is to brand others and uphold your chosen religions....this is not healthy for the mind....I would say....I have christian frens that said God sent Jesus to Israel and Buddha to india....to help people....I dunno how true this is...but lets focus on the work they did....leading people out of suffering....

Yes Jacky.
Sadly, I have heard far too many christians say that other religions/Gods are "of the devil".
I think its so hateful to say that.

what is one's heaven is not necessarily the heaven of the others. In the end, man have to realize which is The Heaven.

I don't call buddhism satanic. what is satanic to you?

I'm not saying that the teachings will be 100% the same....only the technical aspects are the same....I think you already know that I mean....so stick to your choice and be happy ! Hahaha!
To tcmc,
Quote where I claim to hate other religions n where did I say I am the one who determine other gods. In case, u dun realise u have been defining ur own Christian god too
N when did I say Buddha is satanic?
To sgdiehard
Most of them dun care about The Heaven. All they care about is they make it to a heaven/nirvana.
Another similarity is that some people believed and hinted that "pain is the pathway to higher consciousness" A thing early humans practice....(even before buddhism)....Also some priests do that? So did Jesus did the same?.....Hmmm....
Originally posted by Demon Bane:However, at some notion in time, it shows that christianity also believes in a "new universe", something some schools of buddhism taught too....
Demon Bane,
I mentioned before that if one takes a rather superficial approach one can find many similarites among the religions. This however, proves too much from too little. To believe that the universes will fade in and out is to believe that matter is eternal. This is of course a faith metaphysical position to hold. Scientifically speaking this is impossible. There is no known natural process that can achieve this. The amount of energy involved would be infinitely enormous. Even a bouncing ball will eventually suffer from "heat death" as in there is no more usable energy left and the ball will just stop bouncing. The Christian worldview does not posit that matter is eternal but that God who is Spirit is eternal. God is thus not subjected to the laws of nature, in fact He is the Creator of the laws of nature and upholds them.
