Okay okay....just worried about some who becomes over-zealous....I kana one before ! Hahaha!
Originally posted by despondent:becos we are commanded to do so...and the great commandment is juz abt one of the easiest command tat christians can follow...if we cun even bring ourselves to do tat at least, how can we claim to be followers of christ??? i mean the great commandment compared to the 10 commandments, tell me which is easiest to follow? if christians dun even try to do the easiest, dun even tink we can fulfill the harder ones...this is my take...lets see if BIC has any input on this...
The commandment to preach the Good News is exactly that, a commandment. Christians are to obey, even if some of us don't like it. And I think the fact is that many Christians find evangelism (esp street evangelism and just talking to people like that) something very difficult to do, and cite all kinds of reasons for that. But of course, relatively speaking, it would be that talking to someone about Christ is easier than to love God and love our neighbours as ourselves since we always battle with the flesh.

1. Wait but do you obey all the commandements? Then why you choose the great commission verse to obey only? How you pick and choose which to obey? Just curious :)
2. Ok you are ok with people coming to you to convince you to leave your religion? Wow. But you tell me to leave christians alone. Anyway, it doesnt mean if you are ok with it, other people are ok also. They might not like it when you tell them to leave their religion?

Lol.
1. Do you choose which one to be a "commandment" and which one to not be a commandment?
2. Care to share which are commandments and which are not? How to differentiate?
3. Every christian see different verses to be commandements also, right?

share good news
moe like insult to people
to think they have the cheek to say its good news
the existence of god and heaven is still not proven, but it exists in the bible, so thats proof for them alright

then christianity cannot be considered a religion and honestly, go ask any pastor and see if he says christianity is a religion or a r/s...in fact, God hates religion...i cun quote the exact verse for this but i noe its in the bible cos i have seen it b4...BIC, do u noe?
James 1:27 says "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."
So I don't think God hates religion per se, it really depends on how one chooses to define religion.
From a christian perspective, the new heaven / new earth mentioned in the book of revelations, are those on the present earth ? Or on some kind of other planets in the other parts of the universe/galaxy ?

From what I understand the phrase "heavens and the earth" is Hebrew merism, to mean the entire universe. It's like we said we have looked "up and down, left and right" to mean we have search everywhere.

So this universe will end and a new universe will form ? That's what I've said about the buddhists perspective earlier on...

But the difference is that yours is like a perpetual motion machine, where universes are coming in and out on their own for eternity.

However, at some notion in time, it shows that christianity also believes in a "new universe", something some schools of buddhism taught too....
Originally posted by despondent:those from baptist origin may preach tat baptism is needed for salvation...tats how they got their name anyway...
correction....baptists are called because of our strong belief that baptism is a public proclaimation of your faith, for confessing Christians, therefore there is no child baptism; Baptism is not a mean to salvation, for salvation comes by faith alone, and baptists believe in baptism by immersion, as an emulation of the baptism that Jesus went through.

In the new heaven and new earth, God and His people will reign forever, no more going into cycle.

According to some schools of buddhism, different buddhas/bodhisattvas have reign different buddhalands/heavens/universes.... its likely that Jesus was also a Bodhisattva...having his own heaven....hmmm...anyone wanna elaborate or correct that ?

so what do the different buddhas/bodhisattvas say about how human can gain access to their buddhalands/heavens/universes?
To tcmc,
Like I said, the great commandment is one of the easiest commandment to fulfill among many commandments. Besides it merely tells us to reach out to the lost but the choice is theirs.
To jacky,
I noe other religions have their commandments but do they have a commandment telling the followers to reach out? So if they can choose to follow their religion commandments, why chin Christians follow ours?

Those buddhalands/heavens/universes are "ready" for their believers....like exclusive clubs that only members can enter....yes humans can go there....sounds similar to Jesus heaven ?

I am asking how humans need to do to go there? just believe? believe in what? how to be a member?

Some can access thru meditation (upon chanting mantras / buddha names)....praying in the name of their buddha(s)....sounds familiar ? They will enter a land of eternal bliss and happiness....
To demon bane
Christianity wouldn't agree on tat cos it's nt stated in the bible. I do nt deny though tat Buddha may have really existed as a human being. The issue to christians is nt whether Buddha, Guan yin etc existed. Its abt who is God the creator. Which is why I told tcmc b4 tat we can only compare creationistic wif creationistic, non creationistic wif non creationistic.

Christians heaven is also an exclusive clubs for Christians....Jesus said that man cannot be good enough, by God's standard to enter heaven. Man needs to accept Jesus as their personal savior, to enter heaven, to be saved from outside the heaven. Jesus has paid the price for those who believe in Him.
Don't think there is any other faith that is similar.
