2. If you know of a way to prove a spiritual truth by empirical means please demonstrate. It seems to me that you subscribe to some form of religious scientism but are unaware of the limitations or flaws of empiricism.
3. And it is entirely legit to use the Bible to prove that Jesus claimed to be God. And this I have done so. Why should your so-called indirect verses trump my direct verses? Moreover the incarnation means that Jesus willingly limited Himself in some ways but yet the fullness of deity is in Him.
4. Please expound on the trinity found in all other religions and I will further enlighten you on how the Christian Trinity is unique and that it is misleading to say that other religions also got their trinities as if this idea is nothing special to Christianity.
1. BroInChrist, I dont agree with you. There are many kinds of christians, non-trinity Christians and trinity Christians. You might think that they dont have the "truth", but they also think that you dont have the "truth". They use the bible to justify non-trinity beliefs just like you use the bible to justify trinity. BroInChrist, just because you're "uncomfortable" with their beliefs, doesnt mean they're wrong.
2. Which means, there is no empirical evidence for religious experiences, right? The only "evidences" you have to prove your god are personal experiences, scriptures and miracles. All these "evidences" are "produced" by other religions too. Like what I've asked earlier, then what makes your religion different from others?
3. I think it's ok for you to use the bible to "prove" something because you're christian. But I dont see why a hindu or muslim cannot prove his God with their scriptures too. That said, you produce "indirect" verses to show that jesus is god. But you choose to IGNORE the many other DIRECT verses to show that jesus isn't god.
4. BroInChrist, you got me wrong. I SAID the Christian Trinity IS UNIQUE to christians, just like the Hindu Trinity IS UNIQUE to hindus etc. Your trinity is unique of course. Every trinity in every religion IS unique in its own way.

BroInChrist,
You use Genesis. Please provide evidence that adam and eve were actual people in history and that the snake did really talk in Genesis.

Rooney,
Christians dont know the exact date because even their God Jesus doesnt know, the bible says. It's a bit contradicting but oh well, let's live and let live.
I'm just not convinced that if we dun believe in Christ we shall all go to hell when we die....to me, this sentence is too heavy....

Demon Bane
There are christians who believe nonchristians will go to hell, but there are christians who believe nonchrsitians can go heaven too.

Oic, thanks for the insight.... So what do you believe?

Right now,
I dont believe in the existence of any gods because of lack of empirical evidence. But if one day there's empirical evidence for any gods, I will believe :)
I believe in real things and real people, kindness, love, friends, family and things I love to do :)

Then what's your theory on how life started on earth ? Evolution ? Do you believe that there are aliens on other planets on other galaxies ?
Evolution is the evolving of species.
ABIOGENESIS is the theory that is proposed to support the beginning of life on earth. Many other theories. :)
Probability speaking, there is a VERY HIGH CHANCE that there are aliens on other planets on other galaxies because there are billions upon billions of planets.
Okay...I'll go read up on that...Thanks !

An interesting "theory" based upon newly discovered "facts"....
Any guys wanna explain their point of views ?

1. First you say there is no evidence in religion, no empirical evidence. The next moment, you keep using the bible as evidence. Then if you want to talk about evidence, FIRST PROVE that the contents in the bible are factual!
BroInChrist,
You use Genesis. Please provide evidence that adam and eve were actual people in history and that the snake did really talk in Genesis.

Sorry, I don’t feel too inclined to answer your questions, especially if you continue this way. Come to think of it, I don’t recall you responding to a single point of that article I posted that reaffirmed the historical origins of Christianity.
In fact, going by your posts, it seems that you don’t even understand Christianity at all, despite your ‘knowledge’.
More people understand tcmc now.

The point about historical research is to reconstruct what happened in the past through existing fragments of evidence and the study of socio-political events and culture, not to expect a nice and neat collection of original documentation from ancient times to be available today.
The Book alone doesn't tell me about the existence of God. The historical evidence that points to Jesus Christ having walked this earth more than 2000 years ago, together with the existence of the Church that can trace its roots from the time of Jesus till now AND the Book, tells me so.
Servant
I have already addressed your question. You didnt read properly. Dont be lazy. This is the 2nd time I am answering you --
Servant, I think you failed to read our discussions properly.
I say more evidence is needed for the bible because the bible claims "supernatural" things in it like healings, ascending into the heavens etc.
Pompeii records, newton/edison/einstien writings do not make claims that they are gods or that they ascended into the heavens. And people have found the remains of Pompeii and original writings of the scientists.
Just like what Rooney said, teracotta army, Pompeii are all real and physical and visible. THe originals are all there.
As for the bible, it has made MANY supernatural claims, which have yet to be proven. SO PLEASE prove the supernatural claims in the bible.

Dont just give shallow comments and answers or resort to calling names.
Please authenticate the miracles in the bible. At least despondent responded and tried to me but couldnt authenticate the miracles. Why dont you try?
I believe Jesus Christ was a Great Teacher....his aim was the same as Buddha, to lead people from suffering to happiness....same for all major religions' Teachers....
