As for the names, you don't need to know all languages and cultures to find out. It would be wrong of them to anyhow brand it as satanic.

The names are one of the biggest reasons why it is banned. I have my own reasons to believe that the names have hidden meanings. It's complicated and deep, so I won't elaborate.
One of the other reason why pokemon got banned was because evolution was involved in Pokemon (this came out in the papers).
Of course, there's no harm watching the show even if you strictly deny evolution.
But in the Muslim countries, they are strict and I doubt that they would even bother to know about these kind of things, especially them being religous. Sort of see no evil if there's risk. -

Some nuns somewhere in tis world may find it offensive. I can even say I find it offensive myself and there is a perfectly good reason for it. U never do a complete study on your name before hand isn't it ? Now tat is an even worse reason for banning the show. It is because it introduce evolution ?? There r millions of shows tat protray evolution as well. One thing for sure, all those documents about dinosaurs and their bones have to be banned as well. So they decide to practise censorship and snipe off all information tat may very well be the truth ? I bet they never get to study evolution in their bio class as well.

I find the idea of forcing people to go for chapel very wrong. You want to evangelise also not like that what. My school has Holy Mass once a month. The only time you are forced to go is Founder's Day Mass.
Wha, need to buy a bible ah.. My old school very good, they provide for you. -
Been busy lately and didnt have time to follow-up on this topic. But now I hope something can be done about this.
I'm glad that most of the people here agree that such practise should not be allowed in our schools.
Can someone with good "england" write a letter or petition about this? We'll then contact some newspaper/media/authorities.
Contents should include:
- compulsory attendence of chapel service for non-muslims
- banning of books such as Harry Potter
- bowing to certain religious statues/pictures
- compulsory religious book(s)
- any other religiously-inclined school rules that are insensitive to people of other religions.
More importantly, we also need people to confirm their own (not hearsay please) personal experience and specify which school, which year, and whether if he/she knows that the school is still imposing such rules.
