Is this a good joystick?
This is Logitech's latest gizmo. Its cordless. Anyone here got that? If so, how long does the battery last? Is the joystick durable? (Etc: won't break after a year...) Did try it hands-on at "Challenger". The stick is smooth and comfortable. The "Twist Handle" is responsive and the "Trottle" is so cool looking. Thinking of getting one since my current joystick a bit crazy...

you play a lot of flight sim games?
what i know about joy stick is that the base must be heavy and it should have auto centering....
I think it should be costing around 140 ?
Logitech produces quality goods and i like them more than mircosoft. -
I don't think it $140. The last time I check was below $100, $85+ maybe... the problem about most of these joysticks is that they tend to "wear" off after repeted use. Just like my current Logitech joystick. Etc: the trottle tend to go off aligment and the stick gets extremely "touchy" and "spiky" with jerky movements...
And yeah, i'm not too worried with the centering. Logitech have an excellent "Wingman" joystick driver that is extremely user-friendly. You just need to calibrate the stick once, and it auto centres itself.

how long have you been using your current joystick ? -
I currently have 2 joysticks. One is the older Logitech Wingman Interceptor which is over 3 1/2 years old and the other is Logitech Wingman Xtreme Digital 3D which is over 7 months old.
But the funny thing is that the older one doesn't seem to have any problem. The newer one somehow has reached the end of its life.
I guess is that factory workmanship tends to decrease as time flies... -

my last joystick was the MS one where they packaged MechWarrior with it for about $65
now my notebook cannot be used to play games.. not brutally powerful enough.. -

This is the one I bought. Got it from "Challenger" - Funan the IT mall for $69:99. Its called "Extreme 3D Pro". Didn't want to get the cordless one since I dislike the use of batteries...
Sorry for the "a bit late" post. Busy trying out this joystick yesterday.
Joystick Features:
Pros:
1. Extremely stable base. Even with violent stick movement, the joystick stays in place.
2. User-friendly installation software. That same "Wingman" software can be used with older Logitech peripherals so there's no need to uninstall and stuff...
3. Neat looking throttle level.
4. Accurate joystick when it is calibrated right.
5. Precise twist handle.
6. Cool looking design. Yup I know it looks dull in the picture but wait till you see it "live" you'll go saying "WOW"!
7. Tons of buttons, even tho I seldom use them... the top buttons are also made of rubber. Very nice to touch.
Cons:
1. Slightly poor egonomics... first of all, after using this stick for over 30 mins, my whole arm etc: triceps, biceps wrists and fingers starts to swell! Not the most comfortable joystick in my opinion. -
oh man, why Challenger?
usually, their stuff is more expensive..
probably coulda gotten the 'stick at SLS for about $10 less...
it's not ergonomically well made huh?
but that one, you won't know until you use it for a while..
one of these days, i gotta build a brutal PC so i can play games again... in the meantime, maybe i should get a steering wheel to play Crazy Taxi on my PS2 after i get the game
