how to get the conversation going instead of the awkward silence after the "hi"?
let's start with environmental settings........something bery familiar to most of us.......
this applies to those ppl who are initially shy.....but want to try to go out and meet more ppl.....
(not relli at the dating stage yet but who knows, u might yi jian zhong qing!)
at a newbie outing.....virgin meeting with fellow forumites......
start with hi, my nick is blah blah, my name is blah blah blah......ooo~ i like ur avatar (heh~ plus point for p-memebrs).......or.....ur nick is bery unique, where u get the inspiration......wats the meaning behind it............
or the very "common" one......hey! u look like a fren of mine!.....u got brother who used to study in this-this-this school or not?.......
then go on to ask things like....how old are u? u dun look ur age!.....working? which industry?......where do u stay (who knows can share cab leh? heehee~)
got siblings onot?......then proceed to "compare" those siblings stories....u know lah hah..........
then can do those backtrack things like.....wat sch u from.....then maybe share the funny things tt happened during sch days.....how the notti boys and gers sabo teachers......
comment on the food......nice or not nice.....where got nice similar food (hint hint a potential next outing/date)......
at forum outings, the main dish confirm is about forums and forum ppl......so pull a few threads to tok about (those worth talking one lah.....ignore Bar topics...ha!)......
humour is one of the most effective way to break ice and to make everyone feel relaxed......leng xiao hua oso can lah.....jus have to go with the flow and ur wits and make eberyone rber u........
pls note tt im leaving the above suggestions bery open-ended bcos at the end of the day (oh! stoopid cliche tts been discussed in forums......now u get it?) eberyone has different way of expressing themselves in social conditions, esp if it's the first meeting with a group of ppl u are somewhat familiar with......cos agah agah know a bit in forums oredi.....

Actually i don't really it when forumites talk about thread topics and stuff.
We are still confined the virtual subject and stuff. doesn't really improve peer relations anyway.
