How can I get a girlfriend?

I seem to have no luck with girls :D
I'm in JC and I just can't seem to get a girlfriend. At the start of the year I was close to a girl, we texted everyday for a couple months, I asked her out, we went out, and after that we just drifted apart. Today we're still in touch but not as close. :(
Then I got close with another girl. Like talk-everyday kinda close. But I think I got friendzoned, we're definitely close (we tell each other very personal secrets) but I don't see any potential for further development. I liked her for a bit but after I realized we can't be together I sort of killed any feelings for her (so I won't get hurt later on).
Then this is this 3rd girl. This one's kind of interesting. Knew her from the start of the year, not very close to her (we don't text a lot and definitely don't share heartfelt matters) but she asked me out once (in March? but haven't went on that date until now LOL), I asked her out a couple times (meal, movie, etc.). Then we sort of drifted apart for 6 months or so. Then recently we started talking again. I asked her out for dinner, she said okay, but we've been busy (with exams) so that was 2 weeks ago. So probably the dinner will be in a couple more weeks' time. But the thing is, I think she's attached. I'm not sure :(
Anyway I don't know why I seem to have a lot of difficulty getting a gf. Maybe it's physical? I'm not tall, I'm not super good looking or what, I'm not buff or what :X But I'm smart, I'm funny (or so I think :D) and I like to think that I'm quite smooth. Like I can make girls laugh or entertain them or what.

Did you study in all-boys schools previously? Even if you didn't, it's nothing to worry about. You're still young and you're not the only single boy in the school. You're friends with these girls already and that's good, take your time to learn about the opposite sex and get to know them better. There's no hurry to get into exclusive relationships.

And yeah, I know in uni a lot of opportunities... but if now I can't even fix myself then I'm only bound to fail again in uni? :(

It seems like you have trouble 'closing' the deal because you are being a friend to them rather than a potential romantic partner. In addition, it seems you are slinging mud at a wall and hope for some to stick. Dude, you have to be more focused, if not you come across as desperate. Finally, you have to be honest with yourself why are you looking for a gf. For companionship? Peer pressure? Your balls are itchy? or others. Knowing why you want a gf will help you maintain your focus and search for someone who meets your goal.
You said you are smart and funny. That is a good start. Be confident in yourself, and keep the communication momentum going. It's not the end of the world if you fail. Like what Fireice said, "don't worry too much about it".

Dude, do you know that thing they keep on saying to us, girls: you should never ever act like his buddy, or you may actually turn into his buddy. Well, that works for guys too. Unless you want to be friends-only with a girl, you shouldn`t act the same as her girlfriends do, you should act in such a way that would make her see you as a man and therefore feel attracted to you from a different point of view.
If you will always be there for her when she wants to talk, always text her, always listen to her, if she can talk to you about her problems with boys and cry on your shoulder, if you can go for long walks together and just talk without you showing any interest (trying to hold her hand or at least give her a kiss on the cheek to see the reaction as a hint that you would want to kiss her on the mouth later on) and if you can watch romantic movies together and cry together and eat cookies and comfort food until you explode while you`re gossiping about your high-school mates, well....that`s when she will probably realize that she`s doing the same stuff with u as she is doing with her girlfriends...and that makes u look...oh, should i say...gay?? (no offense here) so if the girl sees u as a friend-only or even worse, as her gay friend, how can you expect her to be interested in you?

Our interest in guys has never been about the way they look (we all liked a guy at least once in our life and he was not good-looking at all), not about the way they dress, not about his career or what he`s doing, not about his money (you see so many girls who maybe earn more than their guys and they keep hanging out with a guy that is totally and extremely poor). So the conclusion is: it`s all about your attitude. Change the attitude and you change the life :)
