What should I look out for, when going out with a korean lass?
Social taboos, practices, ettiquette... etc..
Is she a total stranger to the local scene?
Apart from the normal chinese traditions there isnt much of a difference really.
If she spent some time in singapore she would have known much about the local culture here so as long as you behave like how you do here there shouldnt be a problem.
The younger generations tend not to bother much about the old traditions just like the youth of any other developed society.
Erm one think in their context, they dont seem to talk much about north korea for obvious reasons.

Instead of worrying about her, you should worry more about her more conservative parents and older relatives.
Here is a few lists of some of the taboos and etiquette :

There are still quite a bit, but these should be more than enough for you.
LOL!!!
Kimchi !!
Like forbidden sinner said , its her friends , family, relatives u gotta worry about. lol. I remember learning alot of ettiquettes from my kimchi gf when dealing with her relatives, parents etc...
as for her friends, especially the guys, i felt like, those buggers should upz thier own ettiquette first before telling me how to hold n pour soju. For instance, stop talking in kimchi.. n stop calling me Jang kheh. lol Shiba lo mo... ;p
They should understand your culture different ma.
OH.. n one thing, some of them being brought up, they are taught to serve the guy. So its o.k to act like a real man.. e.g , let her wash the dishes, cook... etc.. but then again, u are not korean.. so u just show her ur own style lo. Be urself.
Best thing in this kind of situation, is often having conversations with her whether u did something wrong or not, or normally 'bla bla bla do this.. do you bla bla bla that?' .. cause u wanna understand thier culture etc.
Just dun sound too sissy...
*Me can imagine TS going hardout over the taboo , ettiquette stuffs like he IS a korean*
lol
loL!
diu.. like that say so la.. jeez..
Next time u just say 'looking to prevent a cultural faux pas.'
Then i will delete everything except the last 2 sentences..
" *Me can imagine TS going hardout over the taboo , ettiquette stuffs like he IS a korean*
lol "

lol...
Its more complicated then that. I am trying to resist her atm... i dun wanna be trapped, my wings clipped and a chain around my ankle..
not to mention the stress of being totally cut off from any female friends. She slapped her friend for going out with me ages ago. Long story cut short, i dulan always must go out with her n hang with her korean friends that i decided to hang with my own friends that night, n happen to see her friend n asked her over for a drink... n dunno how my gf suddenly turned with her 2 female friends.. n they started quarelling in korean when she saw her sitting beside me. N next thing i know, SLAP! N since her friend being younger, she can only lan lan stand there with her head down kena slap.
I tried to melt into the shadows.. but .. lol.. FAIL.
omg better think twice marrying this kind of extreme girl. your freedom after marriage maybe curtailed lol.
I also think like that.. but lately i really got these mixed feelings n signals.
Apparently, she now works at a day care teaching 5 to 6 yr old kids.... cause after i left, she apprently studied another paper, n its Education... wanna become teacher like that. Kid psychology or something..
Feels and sounds so marriage material right ? i know..

women's jealousy and pettiness wont change de lar, no matter how educated she is.
I scared to shudder that what if you are married with children with her, she saw you and your female friends or colleagues having a night out, she threatened you jumping down with your kid in tow.

I'm half-Korean, so I think I should be able to give you a small insight to it...
In Korean culture, sadly, women are not treated as equal to men. If you have a Korean GF, you are technically "eligible" to tell her off/task her to do stuff for you. And traditions stick... You'd be shocked despite the modernisation of Korea the simple act of bowing can mean a lot.
To be honest the Southerners don't care about the North. They can continue their antics... We don't care already.

I try to give benefit of the doubt that people can change ma.. mmm.. but u r right.
lol.. now THATS a scary thought...
D:
I really scared of those girls that really scare u like mad man.. like super drama.. n say wanna suicide.. n SUDDENLY phone cut off like that.. wah liew... i tell u, that time, u can think of nothing but just driving n getting ur ass to where she is. Cruel.. CRUEL!!! But when u there.. u see her still alive.. i tell u, u wouldve killed her urself.. but at least she no kill herself .. haiz...

Correct. You need not impress the girl. In Korean culture to have a long lasting marriage, impressing the parents of the girl is more important...
It is similar to Chinese culture whereby once a girl is married out of the family, she is no longer considered to be part of the family but the guy's asset. So impress the girl's parents to give the girl's hand in marriage is most important.

Many Koreans go for Plastic Surgery nowadays... Like so common liao~...
Hoe knows whether the girl go for plastic or wat...
Koreans in SG mostly stay in landed properties, Bukit Timah, and around Geylang East...
i didnt went so deep into the stage whereby i had to entertain the thought of impressing her parents.
She was living in singapore and her parents were not anyway.
