It's hard to develop that kinda self-confidence and self-love, esp when everyone else around you is telling you that you're fat, ugly, etc. But please don't go and do silly things that will permanently ruin your health in the long-run just to please the guys. It's totally not worth it.
No guy is worth you sacrificing your health for.
If you wanna lose weight, do it for health reasons, do it for yourself!
Maybe I'm more mature liao (yalor, not that young liao! 
) but these days, I no longer apologise for being plump liao! On the rare occasion, when others say nasty things, it gets to me sometimes, but most times, I'll eventually snap out of it and tell myself, "Do I even care what shallow people think?" 
I guess you must develop that self-confidence, yoghurt. Learn to love yourself and accept yourself.

I've had my share of folks who pass nasty comments about my size, and I think I've shared some of those comments with you before. Sometimes, when I'm feeling really evil and revengeful, I'll glare at those bigmouths and exclaim, "Did I even ask for your royal opinions?"
But, if I'm feeling awfully evil, like witchy evil, I'll glare at them with an unwavering stare, and staunchly declare, "Don't make me wish upon you the health condition I have to bear that makes me this way - cause if you get afflicted with it, you'll seriously wish you had shut your trap cause you'll realise how mean and nasty you were!"
Guys, THINK! There are people around you who are plump because they have some sorta health condition or are taking some kinda medicine - not everyone's fat because they eat a lot. Do you think it's fair to pronounce judgement on ALL plump people then? It's like mocking at people who are already feeling miserable that they aren't in perfect health, don't you think that's downright mean? -
i dont see the guys complain when some of the gals in my school commented that there are no yandaos around in the school
i dont see guys go whining when some of the girls comment are off tack
i dont see any guys go up in arms and protest and things like that
should i organise one protest rally for the all the injustice guys also suffer? -

It's already happening in the US - girls as young as nine going on strange diets together so they can stay skinny!
And in the US and even in Korea, pre-teens asking their parents to give them birthday gifts of ... surprise!... Breast Augmentation!!
It's not so much a matter of let people continue thinking in their erroneous little ways, Lau. There are social implications if you'll take the macro view.
There will be increases in cases of depression and eating disorders - the notorious Bulimia and Anorexia Nervosia. It's not just an individual thing cause there are huge social costs too! It's not funny anymore, and not simply a matter of 'personal bias' when one of the first questions docs ask when they admit a young, female patient is, "Are her Liver Function Test results normal?", one of the implications being, could she be on diet pills?
There's this pervasive thinking that just cause you're plump or not 'pretty', you are not deserving of things like boyfriends, a good job, etc?? Extrapolate this kinda attitude over a few generations and you'll end up breeding callous individuals.
I do not wish to see the egos of young girls like yoghurt being crushed in this process and therefore, shall continue to speak up! -

It is NOT some gender thing - I just dislike people judging others, male or female, based on looks alone. Geddit?! Thought you would have the maturity to realise that we are not endorsing the physical judgement of people, period.
Doesn't matter if you're male or female, young or old - judging someone and slapping pre-conceived prejudices on him/her is simply wrong, period.
I do not think it's right for girls to write-off guys just because they are not good-looking either. And I've told my friends off before for judging a guy that way.

heck, besides, appearance, there are many reasons to reject a hopeful partner, both sides must learn to let go and find other partners...if i reject somebody on a ground somebody find bigoted or biased, how on earth am i going to justify my decision?
