Singaporean are not common peoples, in this region, we are consider the elites, the smartiest, the most capable peoples, so dun look down on ourselves, peoples tends to go down due to lack of pride and dignity thinking. Just as a Singaporeans, going across the strait into JB or batam, you can see the total differences comparing to them, they will treat singaporeans well, but they will also want to con singaporeans more, because we are different, a higher class ya, that is the pride you must have in you as a SIngaporeans, dun always think you are poor, lousy, good for nothing, jobs take over by others etc etc....in the end you will go down more and more and start to join opposition in blaming the govt because you find no way out of this web...

If people want to con you, there must something good in you, i not saying that we must get conned, but the underline meaning is to say we are rich in the eyes of many around us that they like to con us. Hope u understand

is asking for 2k to 2.3k for a fresh grad considered much in Singapore?
depend on your lifestyle, if you like to flirt with gals, drinks, spend lavishly on electronic goods, asking for 2 to 3k may not be enuf, but still sound reasonable, but if you are those who are guai guai boy, spend very less, eat chai png only, think of the big picture rather than the immediate one,..you can ask for 1.5 to 2k, then from there, show your skill and sell yourself, slowly you will rise to be on the top.

It is reasonable to request for a $2000 monthly salary cause u need to set aside for student loan n giving ur familiy living allowances. I just felt that it is not right to bring in too many foreign profossionals considering the fact that it erodes the salary of the local.
Business all want quick returns, rather than concentrate on training our grads for the new economy. So the quickest way is to bring in foreign talents cheap, in the hope that they get value for money and good returns.
Just saw the news that LKY said Gov will reduce the influx of foreign talents for the next 5 years. They should be reducing their taxes instead.

As I mentioned before, our businesses need to learn to grow up too, otherwise they will remain as they are - INSIGNIFICANT.
By going only for cheap, and not having other criteria when selecting candidates, businesses are nothing but being short-sighted. That's why there are few sg companies in the global arena, other than those that are backed by the govt.
To help businesses to learn how to adapt better, we should take away their easiest-way-out option, ie hiring cheap foreign labour. Then they will be forced to mature and grow up and learn how to think long-term.
People like angel7030 are nothing but a disgrace.

Its true, only by going through adversity, will our non-GLC companies learn to change.
All the brain drains into GLCs, what is left for local companies & SMEs?
Foreigners & PRs.

I guess he is being a pragmatist. I'm not really sure if he really runs a pub and feed off prostitutes, heck, he may even succeed when the vice kicks in with IRs here.
