well said, char. Especially those from northern china, they are fierce mannnn!!
You just hope they don't suddenly decide to go strike or hold a mega protest in front of some ministry.
Singaporeans being pussy cats, likely won't do it, but the new citizens might.

wha! like this hor, we may fall into their trap, especially the PRC traps, PRC people are good in domination, it will suit them well.
So the PRC peoples will form the North Singapore supported by China, whereas Singaporeans will form the South Singapore supported by the Americans and West.
Then war broke out and the North take over the South, Americans and the west withdrew with their butts burning. Then my vision will be this place become a province of China called NanYang.
All
it will be like north korea and south korea..

Let me ask 2 questions:
1) Will their work visa be renewed?
2) If they apply for PR will they be accepted given that MOP would say record their name for a spot for unlawful assembly? or protest?

My understanding, from reading the Chinese papers, is that these people protested because they were short changed on their salaries, or the companies that employed them went bust.
If there is no company employing them, or apply to renew the visas for them, their visa will not be renewed.
these people are here on contract for 2 years, once the contract or work permit is out, they go home. It is only those who come here on their own, or able to change employment, then will they apply for PR. This government acts totally depends on the ability of the foreigners to find job here. So far none of the people in this category have protested.
embrace them

The media dont wan to get in trouble?
Usually when we encounter the ones that behaves badly, we are annoyed at all of them.
But increasingly I am encountering PRC nationals :
At Giant as cashiers.
At kopi tiams operating noodle stalls.
And even at Katong, serving laksa.
And sometimes I am glad, for these cheerful and enthusiastic PRC nationals (and also Filipinos). Its quite a refreshing change from the sour-faced Singaporeans.

Guilt by association wat..too many bad eggs tarnishing not enough good eggs.
Unless the tide changes... hard to give them honor by association.

Those that protested were bagalas where the employers did not pay them for their monthly salary...I would say they are kinda pitiful...just put yourself in their shoes...you're in a foreign country, your boss ran away, and it wasn't easy to come to singapore to work, and now this shit happens, of course they protest...
But I have to agree that there are really too too MANY cheena people lurking everywhere. In fact, I wouldnt be suprised if our 4 point something population increases to 5 or 6 million thanks partly due to them. I think people who agree that there is too much of them should do something about it, like go to speakers corners or maybe even get petitions to be signed.

eh...Dear Mr Neo,
Please do not label me as a husband snatcher or marriage destroyer, I am just a normal gal selling wines, beers, whiskies and some hard liquors. If those Uncles wish to find sober in my pub or club, that is their problem, nothing to do with me hor.
Of course, i have to take the hazards of my job, as most Uncles keep my and my other gals' name card but forget to take it out for laundry, some wifeys found out and called me and scolded me with all kind of vulgarities, and some even visited my place and create a mess until I call in the stupid police.
So dun think everything is smooth sailing, very job got it hazard and difficulties, for those wifeys out there!!, if you cannot control your hubby, please dun blame us, we are just earning an honest living.

Eh…. Dear Miss Angel,
Please do not misunderstand my posting as labeling of any kind, be it husband snatcher or marriage destroyer. Like you, most of your patrons are just normal uncle working in a stressful job wishing only to find sanctuary away from the day to day problem. If they did manage to find that in your care or those care givers of yours, I am sure they will treasure the joy bestow, however short lived that might be.
Of course, like all profitable profession, it does have it fair shares of risk associated. My only suggestion would be for your company to adopt a more welcoming or homely name such as “Elderly care giver” or “Senior Citizen Relaxotherapy”. Hopefully, your client will enjoy your service and return home a much happy person then first arrive at your door step. I am sure their wife might find your name card more acceptable. Who know, she might even recommend her friends' husband there as well.
On the other hand, if thing does turn hazards and dangerous for you or any of your associate, I would like to recommend you taking up a few of my insurance policy to help safe guard all your safety and continuing running of your indispensible service. Rest assure that like you, I am just earning an honest living.
USA begs China to keep on buying U.S bonds:
Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is in China today, doing whatever it takes–no matter how shameless and sordid– to make sure that the Chinese don’t pull out of American bonds, which are tanking in value thanks to Geithner’s multi-trillion-dollar gift to Wall Street. The Chinese are not happy, and since the Chinese loaned America all the money it’s now blowing, they call the shots...

China tells USA to behave properly on Taiwan:
China on Tuesday told the United States to handle the Taiwan issue "carefully" and "properly", and not to create a scenario of "two Chinas" or "one China and one Taiwan".
Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang made
the remarks at a regular press conference when asked to comment on
Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou's recent Central America tour and scheduled
stopover in the United States.
"We noticed relevant reports,
and hope the U.S. side handles the Taiwan issue carefully and properly
so as to avoid creating a scenario of 'two Chinas' or 'one China and
one Taiwan'," Qin said.

I hope that USA can stop interfering in China's internal affairs.
They want China to keep buying U.S bonds, they must behave properly also.

Dear Mr Neo,
Thanks for your kind suggestions and feedback, my organisation will take into consideration and improve on our service, however, we got our own KPI, objectives and policy statement to adhere to, and one of our motto is to provide customer a total satisfaction service. Even to the extend of conning customer's wife (using our male staff in the back room) that he is having a top business meeting or an urgent oversea assignment. That's what we call delighting the customer.
There are many kind of men from different walks of life visiting our organisation, win or lose, depress or happy, failure or successful, young or old, rich or poor etc etc are our normal customers. Therefore it is unlike to name our organisation as what you CALLED "Elder care giver or what SENIOR shit", might as well, i open a "Eldercare Casket and funneral arrangement Co"
Tho most wifeys will come dashing in looking for us, we are able to make them understand that it is their husbands willingness to come here and not that we forced him. We also provide driver to fetch the husband home if he is drunk, usually i put them outside the gate and quickly run away and take taxi back.
And for your info, i never trust and like insurance, if things is to happen, let it happen, nothing to insure about, just that some legal stuff like car, house, shop, medical and company etc etc need insurance by laws, i got no choice, otherwise i believe insurance is nothing but a financial woe to trick laymen and lay women like me.
