Where do 'fines' goes to?

Juz wondering when the court fines someone for an offence? say $1000, where do the money goes too? can anyone advise mi on that....

My lecturer says that all fines goes to the government.

to the judge who sits up there, to the people handling the paperwork, to PUB for electricity bill...

Depends what the fines are "levied" for.
Most of the time, when a new law comes out, there will be provisions on fines.
At the same time, they will discuss where the fines will go to.
Eg, if someone will be fined for speeding....
it may be "pre-allocated" that part of the fine goes to funding anti-speeding campaigns, part goes to recovery of cost that lead to the person's speeding offence.
Sometimes, fines may just go to "General Revenue", simply, extra money.
If i am not wrong, Singaporea fines has always been payable to the department that issues the fine. Because some countries, your fines are payable to Ministry of Finance where the ministry will distribute it again to the department. -
something funny dat was on my mind..........if A beat B den B get only his hospital bills while the court gets the fine........ + court charges...... how not for the govt to be rich leh....... as long as u do something wrong the govt. get to earn money.....while the victim get nothing as compensation only costs incurred

ya lor...why not pay the fine money to the victim instead of having the victim to persue for compensation on another court....

to fight for the victims maximum payable amt...if settle private..e accuser will juz kay siao n simply pay a small amt...althought is long-winded to go suc a long way, but at least e victims be able to recieve the money reasonably well...Originally posted by proj42v:ya lor...why not pay the fine money to the victim instead of having the victim to persue for compensation on another court.... -
