it's too much work to make though. so i'm just going to skip it. haha.

starchy veggies!!my aunt makes this absolutely wonderful stir-fried sweet potatoes dish.
just chop the sweet potatoes into really small cubes.
fry them in butter on low heat until it starts to get burnt (caramelized).

My favourite recipe for winters, cold nights. A pot of piping hot soup with garlic or crusty bread to dip in! Yum!
Minestrone Soup

Recipe serves 2 - 3 generously.
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, smashed
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 medium potato, diced
- 2 small sticks celery, chopped (love the tops for the veggies,
the bottom for the sweetness)
- Half a carrot,diced
- 1 can of diced tomatoes
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dred basil
- 1 chicken/veggie stock cube
- 3 cups water
- Salt & Pepper to taste
*Note: You can also use McCormicks' Italian herbs found at most Supermarkets in place of the herbs above. Use 1 tbsp.
- Heat olive oil, then add onions and garlic. Sweat for 3 - 5 min or until onions are transparent.
- Add poatoes, celery, carrot and stir fry for 5 min, allowing the flavouring to mingle and oils to infuse.
- Dump in can of diced tomatoes, stir for 2 min.
- Add 3 cups water, stock cube, herbs, salt and pepper, and cover for 45 - 50 min to boil under low to medium heat.
- Taste periodically to ensure flavours and saltiness is
well-balanced and add salt and pepper as needed. Stir periodically
to ensure proper distribution.
- Serve with garlic bread, or any crusty bread!
Very yummy.
Esp sitting outside the front porch or balcony with a bowl of soup during those chilly nights. PHWOAR!

errr...my mom is no longer here. if that's what u mean by 'myself'. haha
no need to eat meat lah -.-
i know so many vegans here. tsk.
i'm going to make veggie and bean stews. lots of it. they freeze well too!!
haha. on lazy days, just throw into the pot and let it boil.all i need is a non-lazy day where i'll bother to make the food >.<
but i will still buy ground beef to fry up my own medium-rare burgers!!

Hehe,
veggies are cheap.
Meat's good too, but I've never heard of a meaty minestrone.

A coupla' days ago Coles was selling corn on discount $2 for 5. I got 10, for $4! Yay! Going to fire up the barbie and make some roasted corn, some grilled veggies, maybe a grilled chicken or two for the friends who pop by.
Maybe make some yummy chinese Corn soup with those swirls of egg. For the vegans out there the egg comes from the vegan egg powder you get at health food shops. For the meat eaters, just a normal egg will do.

How come?Its very easy.
All u need is a cooker and a huge pot, for improvisation sake. Haha.
Hmmm, I like my steamboat with lots of different kind of meat. Wahaha. I dont really like all the fishballs or crabstick, but i dont mind them. Oh yes, the steamboat must have a veg, i dont knw the english name for it, but its called " Pang Chai ". Hahah.
Wad abt u?
Hmm, sauce, i dont usually eat things dip in a sauce, i eat it as it is. Peanut butter, the liquid kind, and raw egg i heard before. But i nvr combined all of them. Hahaha.
