    • The announcements and chimes this evening on 327/328 was very different. The chime sounded more like 7-11's door chime (somewhat) and announcements go like this:
      "Doors are closing"
      "Next Station, Ang Mo Kio"

The above is by a lady in a somewhat VERY local accent.
I have a recording of it but don't know where to upload it to.

Plus if you look at the SMRT tenders, they have recently asked for tenders for a in-train Active Route Map system. By now the tender has closed but no word on who won and when it will be implemented. Anyone care to contribute some info? Very Happy

    • The annoucement seems like those you on the Bukit Panjang LRT and Skytrain. I heard annoucements that was annouced by someone else.

    • Oh so it isn't a new project by SMRT and just something for a Poly student to play around with?

Hmm the new chime is slightly better than the original one cause its kinda alerts you more. The old one was gentle and graceful sounding... Though the "7-11"ness of the new chime does feel cheap.

I like how its something like NEL, "Next Station", and that "Doors are closing" sounds like a more complete phrase.

Didn't realize they had a "trial" train of sorts

    • Why the SMRT changed the annoucement?! Too rich ah, no place to spend the money. The original announcement and voice is much better than the new one. I hate the new voice’s accent. I prefer the original Juanita Melson’s MRT Announcement.

I see no use in becoming more and more branded, and continuously tweaking announcement messages across the board.

They should spend more time on keeping the trains in good order, I guess.

    • Trains Spotted With The New Announcements & Chime
      - 077/078
      - 327/328

Please add on to the list above should you spot any other trains with the above.

    • The old C151s, most of the refurbished C151, the C651 and most of the C751Bs do not yet feature this though, or at least I don't know of them because perhaps I have been riding the more or less the same group of train numbers daily. Smile

I thought it was mentioned earlier it was a poly project? So now the news is that its a poly project that will be implemented all-trains wide?

With the new announcements and chime, and active route map display, and refurbished interiors, the C151 will certainly feel very different next year (but of course we got a glimpse of it now already)..........................

    • If u are in a NSL train bound for Marina Bay… when train reaches Kranji station, the annoucement of Going to Johor Bahru wih SMRT service 950 looks different from the usual, the new annoucement include the timing of 950 but the usual one doesn’t have the timing annouced.

      Tell that to Manager433.

    • Who’s the person making the announcement messages? I mean, who’s the talking one.
