    • Got this from Sam's Alfresco Coffee forum.

Peng Yu told me 200 taxi drivers recruited from China 3 months back...each earning basic pay of $800....now another 300 has been APPROVED to drive....

knn...soon even Singh has to learn Mandarin in order to take / board a cab....

      Anyone took PRC driver before?

    • I guess to the cab companies, only Chinese tourists and Chinese Singaporeans take cabs. icon_lol.gif

    • rumours la ....

it had been circulated in S'pore for a few years liao ...

Make no sense as for our current economy is concern .

Local driver drive like fuck nowadays , more Sporeans losing jobs , and yet more foreigners to takeover our limited job resources ??

Maybe this PRC already hold a pink nric , then fair enough ... not with employment pass , like those bus services .

During the 70's , taxi companies are set-up to create jobs for Singaporeans , during KY Lee's reign , it's one of the strategies for KY Lee , until now .

This strategy was a successful  tools for PAP , and will still is . Unless PAP willing to get robust treatments from some oldies .

Then years down the road , Singapore Labour Foundation was founded and create more benefits for cabbies ....

This rumour are meant and created to piss off many people , not me .

    • No worries people , to uphold the taxi service standard ...it'll be a irony to see MOM and LTA allows ChinaMan to drive a taxi .

Maybe in future when Singaporean no longer interested in driving taxis , then like buses , no people wanna drive , so bo pian employ Cinaman drive a bus .

Taxi got people wanna drive , just that the policy must change .

They worked in Tuas South side .

Each of them already bought HDB flats ... kids studying in local school , enjoying local benefits etc .

They are Singaporeans , not PRC .

They dislike people to tell them Tiong Kok Kia , but instead they add-on , i am Singaporean oready .

    • I hv noticed that many yrs ago, many PRC got their pink IC, I even done a few cases for HDB resale, they got the $30k grant, so not surprise that U board a cab on our mentor mention that is needed FT (foriegn Talent). So be more united on our local Bros n Uncle, dont fight our own blood on the road, more giving way , tolerate n respect the senior. give more lobang to junior. Kam sia, kam sia. I would like gonxi gonxi Bros Poolman got happy retired.

    • Getting them to drive on the left side of the road may pose a challenge now. It's okay if the destinations are known names eg. Pan Pacific Hotel, Takashimaya, Toa Payoh etc. Wait till they kena the Henderson Road and Anderson Road problem. icon_rolleyes.gif

    • cant let the PRC take away taxi biz from locals!

if i ever take a china accented cabby, i will purposely speak only English or hokkien and then call LTA to complain the cabby…cant bring me to my location lah and waste my time lah and bad attitudes lah…. and disturb LTA few times until they fed up… haha…

this one i confirm will do one… protect my industry mah…. not joking…. haha

Some PRC hawkers earning more than local executives lah.. not to mention some poorer singaporeans…. makes sense mah?

    • Com'on guys , knn for just $0.10c i overcharge customer , will possibly land me in hot soup , knn not that the taxi company petty , just that it's the service standard the taxi company wanting to uphold .

Instread of providing more friendly environment public transport , i'll create more hassle for locals ...

eg .... one 60 year-old auntie , got up at ChinaTown , says in Mandarin : " Tee ar , Si Ka Teng , infront only ! "

      Guess what ?

what about Ang Sa Lee ?

what is Ku Chai Pa ?

what is Ket Sng Kio ?

For those PRC , we'll be lucky if they knew where's CTE , PIE and KJE .

    • We just cannot be like those Americans , who never like being a cabby , so their drivers are those Mexican , African and from those South Amecian continent , so what happen ???

1st , even the businessman who wanted to go to World Trade Centre , or Manhatten Square , the drivers dunno where is it ?

I meant imagine , a businessman from UK , with slang British English , gets onboard a PRC cab from the Changi Airport , and said : " One Raffles Quay ! "

And the PRC driver replied : " Dunno , take another cab . "

Then this UK businessman will be in agony , totally no confidence in Singapore .

      That's where  the phrase : " First impression last ! " come from .

Tp implant confidence into the business , the economy , the business comes from the airport , then the cabbies , then follow by the rest of the business .

Have u heard ? Taxi driver is the Ambassador for Singapore ? Heard that before ?

    • Back to the Americans , so what happen when the Recession hit them ?

Jobless rate goes up !!! Cos unlike Singapore , no job ? Go drive a cab , still can survive . Our jobless % can be contain , won't go beyond the 16% mark .

Cos taxi are meant to be a re-route for we Singaporeans .

Americans ? I dunno where they land up ?
