New Singapore munition bursts onto world market

Singapore Technologies Kinetics (Stand B105) is launching on the international market at Eurosatory this year its latest 40mm Low Velocity Air-Burst Munition System (LV ABMS), comprising a fire control system (FCS) and the high explosive (HE) air bursting munition (ABM).
The FCS clips onto a rail on top of the weapon and includes a laser rangefinder with a maximum range of 500m (with an option of 800m), with the operator being provided with a red dot for aiming purposes.
The 40 x 46mm ABM is fired from current in-service 40mm low velocity (LV) grenade launchers such as the CIS 40GL and US M203, which are installed under the barrel of 5.56mm assault rifles to enable high value targets to be neutralised.
Each HE ABM is fitted with an advanced programmable time based fuze that is not armed until it is 14-28m from the weapon and enables the projectile to be detonated above the target for maximum effect.The maximum range is 400m and the ABM features a self-destruct fuze to reduce the number of dud rounds on the battlefield.
Development and testing of the 40mm LV ABMS are complete and production can commence as soon as orders are placed. STK also manufactures a complete family of 40mm high velocity ammunition as well as a 40mm automatic grenade launcher and a 40mm Light Weight Automatic Grenade Launcher (AGL) with an ABM FCS.products:

VISION KILLERS--possible tank/APC killers
Aim.Set the distance.Fire.Observe.
Set the grenade explode in front of sights of tank/APC etc.
Remember the most effective distance to explode
in front of the sights.
If u can destroy their sights,sooner or later,they will open
their hatch.Then fire few more at top of their heads!!
If they dunt open hatch,fire more towards the observation
holes.Tungsten Balls may make its way inside the tank,
depending the structure of the tank.
Check the structures of possible tank/APC SAF amy encounter.
Dunt waste ABM.It may save your ass.

The ABM will knock out the optics at least. However, the tankee can still shoot back without the optics.

I doubt the tank is gonna just sit there and let you take careful aim with ur 40mm GL to kill its optics.
Its an Air bursting munition, not laser guided 40mm round.... I'll have better luck trying to take out its optics with a Light Fifty, provided the tank is A) Sitting Still, & or B) Not shooting at me.

When tankee cant see from inside,they lose the patience.
They will call for reinforcement or come out.
Their weapons is the gun,GPMG and their PWD.--and the tank.
When they lose the gun and GPMG,u just short
of the tank protection.But u have ABM of up to 500--800m range.
u can see the tank,but they may not be able to locate u.

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alliant Techsystems (NYSE: ATK) recently received a contract from the U.S. Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, Indiana, to provide 30mm air bursting ammunition for the U.S. Marine's Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle. Under terms of the contract, ATK will provide 1200 rounds within the next six months to the U.S. Navy for qualification tests. The contract contains three production options for deliveries of 30mm air bursting ammunition. This is the first ever production contract for air bursting ammunition and highlights ATK's role as a gun-system provider of choice.

Key components of the system include ATK's Mk44 Chain Gun, a gun control unit with an inductive fuze setter; a fire control system and the 30mm x 173mm Air Bursting Munition. Milliseconds before the round is chambered, the sophisticated fuze is programmed to explode at the precise range selected by the gunner -- who uses an advanced laser range finder to determine the distance. Are you saying that turing out a crappier piece of equipment is better as long as you come out with this faster?
Not all of our troops are equipped with the SAR-21, despite it being nearly 10 years since in was introduced, how much longer do you think it'll take to implement this?
And worse, one we commit to this, the Yanks will finally finish maturing their own technology, which was twice as effective as ours to begin with.

No surprise he managed to screw it up again, he obviously never even went up to a range an fired a 40mm grenade before, let along see a tank at 500-800 meters.
At 500-800 meters hitting a GPMG sized target is challanging even with a sniper rifle, you are talking about a moving target with a slow moving 40mm round. A tank is not going to just sit there and wait for you to plink them. This is why people are switching to smarter, smaller and faster rounds. For some reason lionnoisy seems to think that us sticking to a format of vietnam-era 40mm that is becoming outdated something to toot about... which is laughable.
No surprise lionnoisy messes it up again, given he actually tried to impose inline skates for soldiers.

The Yank system is still under evaluation because it is not only far more advanced then ours, but also far more capable.
But apparently you do not want to go into battle with the best weapon, but with the "world's first"... which isn't even the world's first to begin with.
Case in point, our SAR-21 was the "world's first" AR with a built in LAD, but other countries simply used their common sense, waited for technologies to mature, and aquired P-rail systems as standard allowing their ARs to mount more advanced sights and targeting systems then our SAR-21.
Now how is that smart? Only by your logic.

If the Yanks rushed and made the MBT 70 without waiting for technology to mature we would not have gotten the M-1 Abrams, which is a far superior tank.
Simple, you wait when you know that a new generation of technologies are coming to take the best use of it. 40mm grenades are reaching the limit of their performance envelope, the Yanks were right to develop and explore other alternatives that are up to 500 percent more effective.
We on the other hand, are running into a performance dead end with the 40mm.
