1. Anybody who wish to express their opinions on any issue except religious speeches, and speeches that would cause feelings of enmity, hatred, ill-will or hostility between different racial or religious groups, could simply type in their views.
However any topics related to those stated above will be closed in 24 hours and repeated offenders will be put into consideration for banning.
Reason why this is done so:
Singapore is a small, compact, multi-racial and multi-religious country. Past events show how easily it is for troublemakers to make use of gatherings to incite racial and religious riots, resulting in loss of lives and property. Indeed events in the last two years around the world, demonstrate the disruptive forces that can be unleashed due to racial and religious strife. Regulation of public talks is therefore necessary and continues to be needed.
2. All Statements here Must be backed with facts and not baseless allegations.
3. Any topics that eventually ends up as a flame war will be closed after 3 warnings. A 24 hour grace period will be given after the last warning to allow users to give reasons on why the thread should remain open.
Now, i hope this guidelines would help here. Anybody who would like to add anymore extras, please do so. Thank you.

sigh, at least u r not like the card-carrying moderators at YPAP who snoop in everytime to "correct misconceptions pple have abt the PAP"- in short, spout PAP propaganda.
well, gd luck in ur job anyway, n btw CX is a pretty incessant flamer too, so is suggest threads started by him should be closed down immediately.
my view is that there are two kinds of pple that moderators shud monitor closely- one, the kind that spout endless PAP propaganda trash, and tries to discredit pple who support the oppo or merely oppose the PAP. two, the kind that try spreading rebellion, like Panja_V or EmptyCage. it is most likely that other...errr...more moderate users will get caught in a crossfire between the two groups. remember, oil and water never mix.

MOD[/b]Hi I'm new here. From the above guidelines, it seems like it would be "wrong" to say something which would offend other people. The 2 guidelines above smell like bad censorship and of trying to be politically correct.
And I think this forum is not exactly a public talk. And what's wrong with making statements not backed by facts? The expression of such statements should not be disallowed, in fact, I believe we should leave it to the forummers to judge for themselves the value of such statements.
Anyway, these are just my views, not trying to convince anyone or so ...
cheers,

cheers, its ok to say stuff not backed by facts, but when you go on to start calling everyone who speak against you a pap rat and dog do you think thats ok?

do you think its ok to say stuff like LKY is the devil on the cross? To me that's perfectly fine in the sense that people are entitled to express their opinions. If such offensive remarks are directed at you, you can choose to feel sorry for the person who said such things and ignore him or her. Or you could start insulting the person back and spark off a flame war and in which case, you are probably no different from that person. Or you could try to be really altruistic and start counseling that person. Or .. Or...
I think our right to express our opinions freely should not be compromised because of certain people who "abuse" this right.
cheers,

just don't punch people without expecting people to punch backperhaps u have not read some of his posts carefully.
i do not aggravate if not agrravated. sure, naturally, my idea is to try and persuade pple to accept my views, same as anyone else, of course. but i usually react if someone calles me stupid ro naive or a "stupid little kid", sry i have to admit i'm a little hot-tempered. n CX does that quite a lot.
but if i was as such, then i would have done so to you too, dun u think? after all, we usually have quite divergent views. but no, i dun noe that wad i say would annoy him. (n that's not sarcasm.)
i only punch back if i'm punched, in self-defense; i'm not another Panja_V.

do you think its ok to say stuff like LKY is the devil on the cross?well, it's pretty rude.
but then everyone has their own feelings. part of visiting the forum is to see what other people feel abt an issue of interest. and abt LKY being the devil on the cross, that cannot beat George Bush being a three-headed, 5-armed demon swallowing up the Muslim World, as is being depicted in some American Forums.
n have you ever thought that maybe these offensive (errr...pitiful) pple might feel offended themselves forst b4 making such a statement, what ever the reason is?
i'm not saying that such behaviot is right; i'm merely saying that such behavior does not occur without any reason.
cheers

P.S.: with regards to Panja, i think he is merely a youth fed up with life in SIngapore, much like me, i guess. Adults, dun be too hard on him.
