we are talking about one man who made our country so successful in 40 years. its due to his acute sharpness, iron fist and shrewd thinking that he did it. I believe we aare talking about an extraordinary man but yet he did not boast about his achievements.persoally he has been an inspiration for me in my daily life dealing with people.

and time again, pls respect the elderly,

    • Very good. Yes I agree with you.  LKY is a lawyer who know financing, he know how to set up housing, he know how to set up transportation, he is a very clever lawyer.  He one man alone set up everything and all the money come from his pocket.

Our grandparents all useless sit there everyday and smoke pipe and catch fish only.  LKY alone build Singapore.

    • a great leader is someone who steps out of the scene when he realise that he is past is prime alr.

just like Michael Schumacher. he quit F1 racing at the peak of his career, and be forever remembered as a great driver. he did not stay on to let his decline tarnish his image.

    • Yes, lky did not boast about his achievements when he said without PAP our mothers, sisters will go other countries to work as maid.   Such a "great" man deserves to live forever.

Never criticise LKY, never criticise the police force in Singapore - ha ha a hah!!!!

If you put it that way, I guess the Hong Kongers also benefitted from the British colonial rule.

Weren't we under the British before the political upheaval and dynasty building?

Before we were the subjects of the Queen, now we are the subjects of a dictator, not much has changed. icon_lol.gif

Good suggestion.   He can advertise in local and foreign papers.   If he goes advertised on western papers sure will get lots of bashing.   Would love to see that.

I know what you meant, no worry.  Just in the mood for sacarsm to the threadstarter.

Personally, I believe giving credit where credit is due.   LKY's past contribution to Singapore deserves credit.   I used to think very well of LKY, no more now.

Interestingly, the British Virgin Island, under the British government in 2004 has a GDP per Capita of US$38,500.

What is the GDP per Capita of Singapore in 2004?

If he wants to express his love for Lee Kuan Yew on sgforums, I don't see why anyone should stop him.

He has his rights to express his opinion.

sgforums is not that controlled or censored or propagandist like our state mainstream propaganda media.

If you express your love for Chee Soon Juan, your career is basically over in the media business.

      Here is okay.

But I not sure Lee Kuan Yew inspired SPLIT SECOND to do what.

He did not make it clear.

everybody hold on to their past glory - its natural.... even Mark Spitz got pissed because he was not invited to the Olympics, Mahatir still barking like a mad dog, former Philippines presidents still trying to overthrow Gloria....

as long as the country is not enroute to anarchy.... and that he does not compel every citizen to have his mugshot in our wallets....

SPlit second is inspired by LKY to praise him.   He already stated in his thread.  True that LKY's past contribution to this country is not to be ignored.   Unfortunately, one can't always base on the past and ignore the present.
